Portofino is one of those places that instantly feel made for love stories. From the lush gardens of Belmond Splendido to the pastel houses overlooking the sea, every corner seems designed to host moments filled with beauty. This is where a couple from New York chose to celebrate their Romantic Portofino Wedding with Sea View, surrounded by vibrant colours, intimate emotions, and that soft Italian Riviera light that makes everything feel timeless.

A New York Love Story Meets the Italian Riviera

For many New York couples, Italy represents the dream of an intimate destination wedding. Instead of hosting a large city event, these newlyweds imagined a refined, relaxed celebration with sea views, meaningful details, and an atmosphere that felt unmistakably Italian.

Belmond Splendido — perched on the hillside above the world-famous harbour — became the perfect match. From the very beginning, the couple fell in love with its elegant terraces, serene gardens, and the panoramic view that opens over the entire bay. As a result, the choice felt effortless: Portofino offered everything they wanted, all in one place.

A Garden Ceremony With a View of the Portofino Bay

The ceremony unfolded in the terraced garden, where the sea creates a sparkling backdrop and the village rises in delicate pastel shades. Throughout the entire moment, from their first look to the exchange of vows, the atmosphere remained intimate and breathtaking.

The design embraced vibrant yet sophisticated tones. In particular, coral, pink, and lemon yellow blended beautifully with natural greens, echoing the colours of the Italian Riviera. Because of this, the florals felt both joyful and elegant. Light chairs, natural textures, and subtle golden accents completed the setting, adding warmth without overwhelming the landscape.

Overall, the ceremony felt like a private garden party — heartfelt, serene, and deeply connected to the place. For a small celebration, this atmosphere created space for every emotion to be lived fully.

A Stroll Through Portofino: Photos, Laughter, and Italian Charm

After the ceremony, the couple wandered down to Portofino’s iconic cobblestone alleys for a romantic photo session. Narrow lanes, stone stairways, and sudden glimpses of the harbour created a sequence of natural frames. Along the way, the village offered endless opportunities for spontaneous, heartfelt shots.

Soon after, the day took a playful turn with a ride on a classic ape calessino. This tiny, colourful three-wheeler added a joyful, authentic touch to their wedding story. Thanks to this, the photos captured laughter, movement, and that irresistible sense of la dolce vita that couples dream of when choosing Italy.

Ultimately, what shines through the images is not only the beauty of Portofino, but the way the couple lived it. Hand in hand, curious, smiling, and fully immersed in the moment.

Vibrant Colours, Thoughtful Details, Timeless Italian Style

This Romantic Portofino Wedding with Sea View was built around a very clear aesthetic: elegant, modern, and deeply rooted in the destination. Rather than recreating a New York atmosphere in Italy, we allowed the location to guide every choice.

The florals echoed the coastal palette. Natural materials — linen, rattan, ceramic — brought warmth and texture. In addition, soft candlelight and small citrus-inspired accents created continuity between the Splendido garden and the colourful village below.

Altogether, these elements shaped a celebration that felt refined yet effortless, luxurious yet intimate — a perfect expression of Portofino’s timeless charm.
