From the Wedding Planner: a narration of a wedding in Turin.
The idea
This is an unusual marriage… it’s a marriage between the beauty of art and the preciousness of a venue. The location I chose is the Restaurant Del Cambio in the centre of Turin. It’s a place full of history and charm. I organise weddings all over Piedmont, but I have a special bond with Turin, my hometown, which I adore because of its refinement and great variety of architectural styles.
To create a unique photo shoot I selected, together with the photographers, a palette of strong, vibrant shades. The goal was to capture the lights and colours of this grand venue.
The Restaurant Del Cambio is located in one of the most beautiful and elegant squares in Turin, in the Italian region of Piedmont. Right in front of Italy’s first Parliament, since the 1800s its excellent cuisine and impressive premises have delighted illustrious visitors. For example the Count of Cavour, a celebrated Italian statesman, and the philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche.
Memony and Innovation
The refined venue, enhanced by 19th-century style decorations and furnishings, now also hosts works by Pistoletto, Gamper, and Patkin. Today’s essence of this historic restaurant can then be summarised in three keywords: memories, style, and innovation. The ornaments and decor create a sumptuous atmosphere steeped in history. This is why we thought of a setup that would match the golden details and warm, enveloping colours characterising the spaces. To complement this combination of historic charm and innovative elements, we used marble tables, wonderful stem glasses and precious china plates. The underplates designed by Izhar Patkin deserve a special mention. Patkin, a New York-based artist originally from Israel, has been working on the concept of “ruins”: objects and creatures that are at risk of disappearing from reality and that the artist wants to save through his creative re-elaboration.
As part of his collaboration with the famous French porcelain manufacturer, Manufacture Nationale de Sèvres, Patkin completed a unique project for Del Cambio. 150 plates “discarded” by the producer due to slight imperfections were hand-personalised by the artist with references to the restaurant.
The gold hues of the candleholders, glasses, and underplates, together with the other colours chosen for the setup, create a harmonic whole that perfectly matches the ambience of Del Cambio.
Flower choices
Pink, magenta, and green are also the key colours of the floral displays, made by Mutabilis Lab. The warm and intense shades fit perfectly with the sense of solemnity and sophistication present in every detail. We chose the bride’s dressso that it could to harmonise with the other details and the overall setting. It is from Elena Pignata’s collection and it is elegant and refined, with precise and determined lines. It has some of the Turin-based fashion designer’s trademark features, such as a wide mikado skirt and a precious lace corset. The look of the bride is completed by a special circlet created by Cristina Signorina using an antique crafting technique. The material of the minute flowers is ceramic individually dipped in virgin beeswax.
The photographs went first in the elegant Carignano Square, where the building of the Senate is the backdrop. Then they went in the refined Risorgimento Hall of Ristorante Del Cambio. The groom also wore an Elena Pignata suit, with details in line with the colour scheme of the event, a maroon bowtie and a floral item in the breast pocket.
To further enhance the precious look of the wedding couple, the jeweller Giverso designed the cufflinks worn on the groom’s tailor-made shirt and the jewels that made the bride ever more beautiful.
Art, beauty, and fashion are the key elements that inspired this wedding shoot.
