DESIGNING AN ELEGANT CELEBRATION AT VILLA MUGGIA ON LAKE MAGGIORE
Planning a destination wedding on one of Italy’s most beautiful lakes requires careful attention to every detail.
At Villa Muggia, each design choice needed to complement both the architecture and the surrounding landscape. At the same time, the styling had to work with the changing natural light throughout the day.
From the beginning, Aleksandra and Dmitrijs had a clear vision. They wanted a celebration that felt luxurious, elegant and understated. Therefore, flowers, fabrics and decorative details were chosen to blend naturally with Villa Muggia’s historic character. A soft palette of ivory, white and fresh green became the common thread throughout the wedding. Rich ivory draping added warmth and softness. Meanwhile, sculptural floral installations transformed each area of the venue.
As a result, the overall atmosphere felt contemporary yet timeless. Every element complemented the extraordinary setting of Lake Maggiore without overwhelming it.
VILLA MUGGIA: AN EXCLUSIVE WEDDING VENUE OVERLOOKING LAKE MAGGIORE
Perched on the hills above Stresa, Villa Muggia offers one of the most spectacular panoramic views of Lake Maggiore. Its historic architecture, elegant terraces and beautifully maintained gardens create a sophisticated setting for a destination wedding in Italy.
Moreover, each area of the villa has its own atmosphere. During the afternoon, the gardens are filled with soft natural light. Later, the terraces become especially beautiful as the sun begins to set over the lake. This natural transition made Villa Muggia the perfect setting for a wedding that unfolded across different spaces throughout the day.
VILLA MUGGIA WEDDING CEREMONY: SCULPTURAL FLORALS FRAMING THE LAKE
For the ceremony, the design celebrated both the couple and the breathtaking landscape beyond.
Instead of a traditional floral arch, four large floral installations framed the altar. This created depth and dimension while keeping the magnificent lake view completely open. The arrangements featured white delphiniums, lilies, hydrangeas, roses and anthuriums. Textured green flowers added contrast and gave the design a more organic feel.
Flowing ivory fabrics softened the installations, adding movement and elegance while echoing the luxurious textures used throughout the day.
White wrought-iron chairs completed the ceremony setting. In addition, delicate white parasols offered guests shade from the summer sun. The parasols were practical, but they also became part of the overall aesthetic.
The result was a ceremony that felt intimate despite the grandeur of the setting, where nature, design and emotion came together in perfect balance.
AN ELEGANT VILLA MUGGIA WEDDING RECEPTION WITH PANORAMIC LAKE VIEWS
As the sun began to set, guests moved onto the villa’s panoramic terrace for dinner overlooking Lake Maggiore.
Villa Muggia wedding reception embraced the same refined aesthetic established during the ceremony. Long tables were dressed with flowing ivory linens. The fabric cascaded softly towards the floor and added a sense of movement to the setting.
Meanwhile, minimal floral arrangements were displayed in crystal vases of different heights. White roses, hydrangeas and delicate anthuriums created an elegant tablescape. However, the arrangements remained intentionally understated so that the lake view could stay the main focal point. Dozens of candles lined the terrace balustrade. As daylight slowly faded, their warm glow transformed the atmosphere.
Transparent chairs, refined glassware and carefully curated table styling completed the design. The atmosphere felt luxurious without excess and perfectly reflected the couple’s vision.
